Etobicoke is a district in western Toronto. It sits on the shores of Lake Ontario and the banks of the Humber River, bordering the city of Mississauga and Toronto Pearson International Airport. The district encompasses twenty percent of the land of Toronto and thirteen percent of its population. Until the end of the last century Etobicoke used to be a separate municipality, but is now part of the city of Toronto. The district is divided into three areas: The Lakeshore, Central Etobicoke and Rexdale.

Business Information

Large industries in the area include construction, air-services, education, and film. Several companies have their headquarters in Etobicoke including Pizza Pizza and Sunwing Airlines. Construction businesses, film and television companies, and service organisations have being gaining grounds in the city. The city also has three craft breweries that operate alongside the many other business establishments that have office space in the area. Etobicoke is home to the Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber.

Entertainment And Dining Out

Etobicoke has a lot to offer in terms of public parks. Examples include James Gardens, the Colonel Samuel Smith Park, and the Humber Bay Park. The central and the southern areas of the city have a lot of green spaces, golf courses, shops, restaurants, and cafes. Other attractions include the Sherway Gardens Shopping Centre, Woodbine Race Track and Slots, and Woodbine Centre. The area offers diverse cuisine options. Recommended restaurants include: Milestones, La Veranda Osteria, and Montanas.

Transport Information

Etobicoke is 15 km (9 miles) from Toronto Pearson International Airport through Highway 427. By car the city is reachable via the Queen Elizabeth Way and the Gardiner Expressway towards Toronto. Central Etobicoke is well-serviced by public transport.
