Options include Corcovado - a black sand beach bordered by tropical rainforest, Dominical – a popular surfing and nightlife choice, Jacó - San Jose’s party beach with surfing, casinos and a vibrant nightlife, Montezuma – a fun, eclectic beach for surfers, and Playa Grande – a laid-back white sand beach that is used by the leatherback sea turtle for nesting. The cuisine in Costa Rica features foods simmered in a pot, blending flavours. It isn’t spicy, and consists of dishes such as Gallo pinto - rice and beans, onion, and cilantro. This is a popular breakfast dish, but is also served at lunch or dinner. Another popular lunch dish is Casado - rice and beans with meat, chicken or fish, typically served with salad and fried plantain.

Transport Information

Costa Rica has a number of airports, including Juan Santamaría Airport which is situated near the cities of Alajuela, Heredia, and San Jose. The Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) is located near Liberia and is the one near the Pacific Northwest coast. The Tobías Bolaños International Airport is in San José, just 15 minutes from the city centre. Costa Rica offers bus services from Panamá, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, and Guatemala. There is also boat service from Los Chiles, Costa Rica to San Carlos, Nicaragua.
