Aarhus, is the main city on the Jutland peninsula in Denmark. It was previously known as Aarhus. With a population of over 300,000 people, it is Denmark’s second largest city. Archaeological findings in the area date back some 1,300 years to Viking times, the bishopric of Aarhus dates back to earlier than 951. Entertainment And Dining Out

There are many interesting buildings in Arhus with exceptional architecture, including the new art museum ARoS, which is located next door to the Concert Hall. ARoS is one of Denmark’s largest museums; its ’9 Spaces’ exhibition is a unique maze of black-walled galleries, which should be on your ‘don’t-miss-list’ of places to visit. The hundreds of restaurants in Aarhus vary between inexpensive kebab joints, to high-class dining. A few options to try include Casa Mia, a cozy Italian restaurant that serves tasty pizzas and pasta dishes. Havnens Perle was awarded the title of ‘Best Danish barbecue restaurant in Aarhus’, it is located at the harbour. Here you can get a fresh burger, hotdogs, or a traditional Danish meal of pork, potatoes and cream sauce.

Transport Information

The Aarhus airport is a 45 minute bus-ride away. Airport buses arrive and leave from Banegardspladsen, in front of the railway station. Trains run twice every hour from Copenhagen to Aarhus, the journey takes three hours. There is also a ferry service that connects Aarhus with Copenhagen which operates 10 times a day.
