The City Bowl is a part of Cape Town in South Africa, situated between the mountains of Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Lion’s Head, and Devil’s Peak. It is bordered by Table Bay. This natural formation has an amphitheatre-like shape. It includes the central business district of Cape Town, as well as the Company’s Garden, the harbour, and several suburbs (i.e. District Six, Zonnebloem, Gardens, De Waterkant, Walmer Estate, Woodstock, and more).

Business Information

The City Bowl’s centre is located at Loop and Long Streets. This district features car rentals, fine restaurants, travel agents, and adventure centres. The Central Business District of Cape Town is a hub for commercial activity and also includes residential buildings (i.e. Cartwright’s Corner, The Adderley, Mandela Rhodes Place, etc.). North of the city centre you will find the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront shopping complex and working harbour. This is South Africa’s biggest tourist attraction. The shopping complex has over 250 shopping outlets, world-class boutiques, an informal trading area, the Imax Cinema, and the Two Oceans Aquarium. There are many options for serviced offices in the City Bowl district.

Entertainment And Dining Out

Major points of interest near the City Bowl include the V&A Waterfront shopping centre, Heritage Square, Robben Island, Cape of Good Hope Castle, the Grand Parade, and City Hall. The City Bowl has some historically significant neighbourhoods and access to the Table Mountain (more than 1000 metres high). South of the city centre, this area is home to a variety of animal species and offers activities that include hiking, walking, shopping, telescope viewing, and a cable car. The gap between the Table Mountain and Lion’s Head provides access to the popular Atlantic Seaboard beaches. City Bowl has a variety of restaurants offering diverse cuisine options. Examples include: Mezbaan (Indian, Vegetarian), Bistro 126 (Bistro), Signal Hill Lounge (International), Kaprinos (Seafood ), Five Flies Restaurant (South African), Active Sushi (Japanese), and Cinnamon Cafe @ 15 On Orange (Contemporary).

Transport Information

Getting to the City Bowl is quite easy, as it is around 13 miles from Cape Town International Airport. Bus and taxi service from the airport to the City Bowl is available. Nelson Mandela boulevard is one of the main roads that runs through the area connecting Cape town with surrounding suburbs and cities.
