Málaga is a city and a municipality in Andalusia, Spain. It is the second most populated city of Andalusia and the sixth largest in Spain. Malaga is located on the Costa del Sol, 100 km (62 miles) east of the Strait of Gibraltar and 130 km (81 miles) north of Africa. Malaga is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded by the Phoenicians in 770 BC.

Alcazaba was once the palace-fortress of the city’s Moorish rulers. Built during the 11th century, it offers fabulous terrace gardens, horseshoe arches, and beautiful Islamic architecture. There is an archaeological museum onsite and great views. Concepción Botanical Gardens is situated just north of Malaga. Here you will find great views of the city, and plants from around the world. This is a peaceful change from Malaga’s vibrant beach scene. Restaurants in Malaga include Clandestino – featuring a fusion of northern European and Latin dishes, it offers vegetarian and meat choices in a warehouse setting. La Tetería is situated near the Picasso museum, offering many exotic teas, homemade cakes, and specialty items like homemade breakfast granola. Another option is Restaurante Tintero, which allows you to dine by the sea, enjoy seafood dishes and relax in the sun.

Transport Information

The city is served by Málaga Costa Del Sol Airport. The Málaga-María Zambrano Train Station offers a AVE high-speed rail system. The AP-7 motorway runs along the coast south until Gibraltar and the A-45 heads south to Cordoba.
