Transport Information

Esenbo?a International Airport, located in the north-east of the city, is Ankara’s main airport. From Istanbul, the nearest major airport is Atatürk International Airport (IST/LTBA). This airport has international and domestic flights and is 18 km from the city centre. The Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW/LTFJ) is 48 km from Istanbul. Istanbul can be reached from Bulgaria via the E80. A direct road link between Istanbul and Ankara is provided by the O-4, which also links to Gebze, Izmit and Bolu. Buses are the most popular form of transport in Turkey with most cities and towns offering a central bus station with inter-city connections. Turkish State Railways operate rail routes across the country with the best services in central and eastern Turkey. Istanbul Fast Ferries provide ferry services from Istanbul to Yalova, Bandirma and Mudanya.
