SW5 is a postcode area in central London that covers the entire district of Earls Court. In the late 1960s, the area was popularly known as Kangaroo Valley as it housed a huge population of Antipodeans. Over time, Filipino and British communities settled in the area and continue to call it home today. SW5 has had the distinction of witnessing various firsts in the country. The first ever escalator to be installed in all of UK was at Earls Court station, while the first ever supermarket in Britain also opened in the vicinity in the mid 1950s. Before she was engaged to Prince Charles, Princess Diana lived in one of the beautiful houses in Earls Court.
