Pfungstadt is a town in the district of Darmstadt-Dieburg in the state of Hesse, in Germany. The town is located just west of the Odenwald hills. One of the most famous landmarks in this area is Frankenstein’s castle. This ruin is said to have inspired Mary Shelley to write ‘Frankenstein’, after hearing the castles name as she made a trip down the Rhine River.
