Serving as the capital of Israel, Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world. The city is situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the northern edge of the Dead Sea, within the Judean Mountains. The city is the largest in Israel in both area and number of people. Transport Information

The nearest major airport to Jerusalem is Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV/LLBG). It is 55 km (34 miles) from the city centre. Another major airport in the area is Sde Dov Airport (SDV/LLSD), offering domestic flights from Tel Aviv. This airport is 74 km (46 miles) from Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Light Rail line links the north-eastern neighbourhoods of the city to the south-western neighbourhoods. This light rail line travels along Old City’s west side, passing through the city centre.
