A former Royal Burgh situated in Fife, Scotland, Dunfermline is an historic town and the second largest settlement in Fife. There were settlers in the area during the Neolithic period but the area was not classed as one of significance until the Bronze Age. Over the centuries, the town has accrued a rich and fascinating history and today boasts various places of interest and sites that reflect its past. Some of the areas of interest that can be found within the town include Dunfermline Abbey, the Dunfermline War Memorial, Abbot House, the Guildhall, and the City Chambers.
